When we are dreaming alone, it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality. ~ Dom Helder Camara
An E-Announcement from our Advancement Director:
Alumnae and Friends of the Mount,
As the newest member of the Advancement Team, I would like to thank you for the warm welcome. The first few months have made quite an impression on me. I am sincerely humbled and at the same time, awestruck by your support of these young women who seek a transformational experience in their lives and they found it here at 617 Cambridge Street.
Kathleen Fraser `67 and I had the opportunity to meet with alumnae a few weeks ago at our regional gatherings. Many alumnae shared their fond memories of their years attending the Mount and are extremely grateful for the academic and spiritual growth that was provided to them by the Sisters of Saint Joseph and dedicated faculty and staff. The strong sense of loyalty and affection for the Mount was loud and clear. Be assured that we will continue to have gatherings, reunions and strengthen the connections that you hold so near and dear to your hearts. Stemming from these gatherings was the fact that we need to start an active alumnae association – more information will be forthcoming.
On March 13, many alumnae graced our classrooms and participated in our Annual Career Day. The girls always look forward to hearing from the women who blazed the trails ahead of them. Our keynote speaker was Liz Walker, an award-winning television journalist, a documentary film producer, an entrepreneur and a humanitarian. Liz anchored WBZ’s evening newscast for nearly 20 years.
The girls remain involved in various activities including our Robotics Team who competed this past weekend at another FIRST Robotics competition at Boston University; the athletes are in training for spring sports; the Class of 2016 is registering for school next year and our seniors are preparing their senior projects with more than college on their minds. Spring is in the air!
As you know, in September 2012 the beautiful wooden front doors of Mount Saint Joseph Academy will open to a new Catholic co-education college preparatory school - Saint Joseph Preparatory High School. Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Trinity Catholic will unify to form a vibrant, academically rigorous and operationally efficient Catholic secondary school open to all qualifying students.
Mount Saint Joseph Academy is not a tapestry woven from one single thread, but many, beginning in 1650 in LuPuy, France with the formation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph Preparatory High School students will forever be woven into the fabric of your life enjoying the same educational opportunity provided by the Sisters of Saint Joseph here at 617 Cambridge Street.
