IONA COLLEGE - PRESIDENTIAL AND DEANS' SCHOLARSHIPS - Criteria: GPA of 3.5, 1300 (MATH/CR) SAT. Deadline: December 1, 2009.
KFC COLONEL'S SCHOLARS PROGRAM - Criteria: Must be a high school senior, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher, pursue a bachelors degree next year. Applications and information available online from December 1, 2009 through February 10, 2010.
FIRESIDE CATHOLIC PUBLISHING ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP - If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, please submit an essay on the topic, "How is your religious education influencing your life?" The essay should be no more than 750 words. Please submit your essay to Ms. Dwyer. Deadline: December 7, 2009.
AFL-CIO SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM - Criteria: must be a high school senior. Applicants must complete an application and return it to Mrs. Dolan inthe Guidance Office by December 14. Applicants must take the AFL-CIO exam on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. This exam will be given at MSJA. Application and study guide are available online under the scholarship link. Deadline: December 14, 2009.
FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY - METROPOLITAN BERGEN SCHOLARSHIP - If you have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, rank in the top ten percent of your class and score a minimum of 1300 (out of 1600) on the SAT and would like to be nominated for this scholarship, please give your name to Ms. Dwyer by January 6, 2010.
GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP - Criteria: must be an African-American, American Indian / Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S., must have a GPA of at least 3.3, must have demonstrated leadership abilities, must meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria and must complete the required forms by January 11, 2010. HENRY DAVID THOREAU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - Must be a Massachusetts resident. Candidates must have strong academic qualifications and a commitment to the environmental field. Applications are available in Guidance. Deadline: February 1, 2010.
AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP - To qualify you must be active in your community, have led a project benefitting others and have overcome personal challenges. Application and more information are available online. Deadline: February 15, 2010.
NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Merit scholarships. To qualify, you must have a high school GPA of 3.5, complete the scholarship application and be accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year at one of the Partner Colleges and Universities. A list of the Partner Colleges and Universities is posted in the Guidance Office. Deadline: February 15, 2010.
YAWKEY SCHOLARS PROGRAM – Criteria: must be a US citizen, graduate from high school, have considerable financial need, enroll at one of the eligible colleges (see list in guidance), have participated in a mentoring program or ongoing mentoring relationship, and have faced significant challenges and obstacles. Information is available online. Deadline: February 15, 2010.
EDWARDS SCHOLARSHIP FUND – Scholarships are available to City of Boston residents. You must furnish evidence of financial need, scholastic ability and good character. Applications are available in Guidance. Deadline: March 1, 2010.
STEPHEN PHILLIPS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship fund offers scholarships to “students with financial need who display academic excellence, a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society, and strong citizenship and character.” Applications and more details can be found online.
