Campus Ministry

In response to God's active and inclusive love and rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Campus Ministry strives to create at Mount Saint Joseph Academy a community of unity and reconciliation through worship, prayer, service and the support of a faith that does justice.

Attentive to the needs of the 'dear neighbor,' we work to empower all members of the Mount community to recognize and to share their many gifts and to aspire to become compassionate participants and leaders in our Church and our world.

Liturgy
As a school community, we celebrate together the development of the whole person, 'by instilling spiritual values, inspiring the love of learning, sharing knowledge and practicing skills.' These spiritual values are strengthened and shared when we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist throughout the academic year. On Holy Days and other school-related feasts our community gathers to break bread and be thankful for all the opportunities that God has bestowed upon us.

Service
In keeping with the mission of the 'dear neighbor' service to others is an integral part of our school community. While students provide a required minimum of 20 hours of community service per year, they also have ongoing opportunities to volunteer and are encouraged to do so. The service program, which is more fully described in the Mount Saint Joseph Academy Community Service Handbook, is part of the Religious Studies curriculum and is overseen by the Religion teachers and Campus Minister.

School personnel are currently placing service sites opportunities outside of Massachusetts and possibly interna- tionally. Some of our service opportunities include but are not limited to: Bethany Hill School, Boston Rescue Mission, Casserly House, Jackson Mann School, Nazareth House, Pine Street Inn, and Rosie's Place.

Retreats
Mount Saint Joseph Academy, in conjunction with our purposes and objectives, seeks to encourage each young woman to identify and celebrate the presence of God in her personal life and in community with others.' In order to nurture and foster this need for community and self reflection, Mount Saint Joseph Academy offers an extensive retreat program to each young woman during her four years at the Mount. These retreat experiences offer the students a full day of reflection with her classmates.
