Reunions
Letter for the Class of 1960
Diamond Jubilee Class to Celebrate 50 Years
Fifty years ago - we graduated and to envision our fiftieth anniversary seemed so far away then - and now - It is here!!!! Then our theme song was “It’s on a Mount You can see the way . . .” Now, our theme song is "we can still see the way!" This is our fiftieth anniversary and the Mount’s 125th year of graduating women.
Though many thought we’d keep in touch, our lives got busy and many other things such as career, travel, marriage, and family commitments kept us occupied. Let’s take some time this 50th reunion to catch up and reminisce about where we’ve been all these years.
On Saturday, October 23, 2010 the Mount will host our 50th Class Reunion along with the 125th celebration of the Mount itself! What a great opportunity to renew old friendships and maybe start new ones!
We look forward to meeting again with as many of the members of the class of 1960 as possible during Reunion Weekend. THE MORE THE MERRIER!!! After discussing how to commemorate this milestone, we want to extend the celebration over the entire weekend. A number of our classmates would be interested in gathering on Friday evening for an event (to be determined); Saturday during the day we would have an opportunity to share time and experiences in the Boston area (to be determined) and then Saturday evening the event at the Mount; and finally on Sunday a brunch to conclude the weekend.
The members of the Class of ‘60 Reunion Committee need your help to make this 50th a time for celebration and rejoicing in our friendships. We need some feedback on two issues:
First, we are missing some of the alums from our class lists. If you know any classmates from the class of ’60 please contact Arleen Frechette ’79, Alumnae Relations Coordinator for the Mount, at 617-254-1510 or ArleenFrechette@mountsaintjosepacademy.org and share the contact information with her so that all class members will be invited!
Also, for those who would be interested in participating in all or some of the weekend events we need to get some indication of interest so that we can plan accordingly. For those who will need a place stay, we will reserve a block of rooms at a nearby hotel. The Head of the Charles Regatta is the same weekend, so we will need to block rooms in advance.
Please print and complete the Registration Form. Return the completed form to Mrs. Arleen Frechette, Alumnae Relations Coordinator, Mount Saint Joseph Academy, 617 Cambridge Street, Boston, MA 02134-2460 or register online.
Reunion 2009
Return . Reunite . Reconnect . Remember
Reunion 2009 was celebrated on Saturday, October 24, 2009. More than 165 alumnae from 14 classes ending in 4 and 9 attended. Prior to the 5:00 PM liturgy celebrated in Holy Family Chapel, by Rev. Paul Kilroy, current Chaplain at Regis College, Ms. Kathleen Fraser ’67, school principal, welcomed all present. Women from various classes participated in the liturgy as cross and/or candle bearers, readers, gift bearers, and Eucharistic ministers and the MSJA choir, under the direction of Ms. Katherine Greiner, led the singing. At the close of the liturgy everyone sang the Mount song, It’s on a Mount, with great spirit.
Following the liturgy, everyone moved to the gymnasium for a memorable night of reminiscing, laughing, and catching up. Alums travelled from as far as Modesto, CA or as near as Brighton to reconnect with their former classmates and teachers and to once again walk the “hallowed” halls of the Mount. It was an experience to hear stories told by both boarders and day students.
Current students acted as hostesses for the evening. They were honored to be among the women on whose shoulders they now stand and to witness the joy and enthusiasm that comes from being part of this special sisterhood of Mount alumnae.
The members of the Advancement and Alumnae Relations Office, Roseann Amico, CSJ, '57 and Arleen Smith Frechette '79, thank all the alumnae who attended Reunion ‘09 and extend a special thanks to those who in any way helped to make this evening so successful.
